The Magic Of The Lake District

Home to England's biggest lakes and tallest
mountains, the Lake District is an area of outstanding
natural beauty. From our base in the Lyth Valley, we
drive to Bowness, delightfully located on the shores
of Lake Windermere, where we board the “steamer”
from Bowness Pier for a relaxing sail to the southern
tip of the lake at Lakeside, then continue back on the
coach to Grange-over-Sands, with spectacular views
across Morcambe Bay. We take a drive to Sedbergh,
England’s book town, continuing across
Ravenstonedale Common, Kirkby Stephen and
Brough en route to the former town of
Westmoreland, Appleby; home of the famous Horse
Fair, returning along the shore of Ullswater, and over
the rugged Kirkstone Pass. The highlight of this tour
is the “High Adventure”! The “Mountain Goat”
minibuses take us on the mountain passes of the
Western Fells, Wrynose Pass, the desolate Duddon
Valley and awesome Hardknott Pass. See the lonely
Roman Fort as we descend into Eskdale for a ride on
L’al Ratty, The Ravenglass and Eskdale Minature
Railway, with a visit ot Muncaster Castle Grounds &
World Owl Trust, before returning via the Coniston
Fells and Coniston Water.

The Damson Deane Hotel, is tucked away in the
tranquil Lyth Valley, with friendly staff and great spa
facilities, its name comes from the famous damson
orchards of the area. All of the guestrooms are en
suite & offer the usual refinements including TV,
telephone, hairdryer and WiFi & refreshment
facilities. This hotel also boasts a Spa and leisure
suite, complete with a swimming pool & fully fitted
gymnasium. Our stay is on a half board basis.
